Our technical, commercial and operational management team has almost 130 years’ experience between them. What we don’t know about laser optics, to be honest, probably isn’t worth knowing. So we’re taking this chance to blow our own trumpet. Between us, we are world-class experts in all aspects of optical fabrication – from the initial processes of grinding and edging, through polishing and coating. Not forgetting optical metrology of course.
Our expertise means we are well placed to advise customers on the most suitable optics and specifications for these for their applications.
Dr Helmut Kessler
Co-founder and Managing Director
A specialist in optical coatings, in high laser damage and ultrafast design, Helmut has worked on the Isle of Man since 1995 at Technical Optics (later CVI Technical Optics). He founded MPO in 2013.
In his spare time, Helmut enjoys nothing better than tinkering with his collection of classic cars.
Chris Bridle
Large Optic Product and Sales Manager
Chris has worked for leading optics manufacturers for over 32 years. He has a wealth of experience in both manufacturing and commercial operations. Chris has specialist knowledge in design, processing and coating technologies.
Chris is also a fisherman and to take his mind away from high-energy laser optics likes to head down to river and relax whilst waiting for the fish to bite.
Andy Collister
Polishing Manager
Andy has specialised in optical polishing since 1989. A key member of our team, Andy is an expert in large optics and achieving flatness after coating.
In his down time Andy is keen cyclist and enjoys racing the testing roads of the Isle of Man.
Nick Pearson
Sales and Operational Planning Manager
Nick has over 12 years’ experience in all aspects of both optical sales and manufacturing operations.
When he’s not running the operational planning and ensuring on time deliveries, Nick’s running up and down the fells of the Island or cooking up some mean curries.
Steve Goldsmith
Coating Manager
Steve has over 20 years’ experience in optical coating, specialising in High LIDT coatings and repeatability of process throughout his career.
When he’s not obsessing over coatings and in his spare time, Steve is a very keen and well respected member of the IOM dog agility team and has competed nationally with his dogs at Cruffs.
